“After the tree has matured, the tree finds a second life in my studio.”
When working with wood, attention to detail and being patient are critical skills in order to create a unique and eternal piece. Finding the right piece for the right project means having an eye to envision what that cut could become. The design and build portions of each project are carefully executed, but in order to capture the true beauty of each piece, the many stages of sanding, bees wax and tung oil make the wood grain smooth as glass.
Leo designs and creates handcrafted solid wood furniture. He employs traditional joinery and finds great enjoyment in the application of hand cut dovetails as well as mortise and tennon connections.
He finds pleasure in making many of his own jigs and fixtures employing his tool making skills from his previous career as a skilled journeyman. Although his hand tools are valuable instruments to his craft, Leo believes that his most trusted tools are his hands and eyes.
